Never Happy
All suffering is accompanied by loss.
To suffer a deep hurt means to be simultaneously robbed of something fundamental. Abandonment severs our connection and security. Grief leaves us longing for closeness, depression robs us of joy and the drive to thrive while burnout drains our energy, passion, sleep, and appetite—turning untapped potential against us. Ultimately, severe stress and chronic insecurity leave a legacy of flashbacks, persistent self-doubt, anxiety and shame.
It masks a forgotten child.
We often create obstacles in our minds that aren't truly there, hindered by a lack of clarity and stability, which leaves us hesitant to explore new paths. This challenge is further intensified when chronic physical ailments quietly diminish our joy.
We frequently attribute our struggles to seasonal downturns, relationship issues, workplace stress, or unsatisfactory therapy sessions. While these factors certainly play a role, the real issue often lies in an overactive coping mechanism that drives us toward overwork and perfectionism.
Immense effort.
This exhausting cycle of recovery, setbacks and chronic pain takes a heavy toll. True rest feels elusive, trapping us in a familiar loop where internal struggle serves as a paradoxical sanctuary—stress is comfortable, while peace feels threatening.
Unfamiliar with tranquility, embracing it can become our greatest challenge. Outsiders frequently misinterpret this weariness as a sign of weakness, unaware that we have spent years battling the shadows of past trauma. As masters of performance, we conceal our anxiety behind genuine smiles, yet in the stillness of quiet hours, we find ourselves grappling with our inner demons.
Struggling through life.
A childhood devoid of validation and safety shapes an unstable adulthood. Healing, therefore, cannot follow a rigid blueprint with fixed milestones. Instead, we must first cultivate a secure foundation—a trial-and-error journey of failed therapies and self-help books that ultimately leaves us stronger and more resilient.
Having endured this far, why stop now? It is often at this pivotal threshold that we seek guidance. With the heaviest burdens behind us, we recognize the value of anchoring our insights while committing to growth.
Self-compassion is crucial.
Healing begins with clarity and self-acceptance. It takes profound courage to confront our memories and recognize how the experience of victimhood has shaped our identity.
This journey serves as a mirror, reflecting our childhood and inviting us to scrutinize our deepest beliefs and loyalties. While holding onto past wounds feels natural, genuine healing demands that we reframe our perception of safety before we can truly confront our pain.
To create change, different actions are required.
This journey demands time and patience; in the absence of light, darkness prevails. It is our fixation on despair that has brought us to this point. What we truly need is the sublime to nourish and illuminate our path. In doing so, we rediscover our authentic desires and, for the moment, gently navigate past lingering pain. Guided by self-reflection, we find peace, anchor our foundation, and make room for natural growth.
Days grow brighter.
Dismantling our inner defenses to embrace life's beauty demands continuous effort, yet time brings undeniable transformation. While healing often sparks doubt and resistance, it also unveils an overlooked joy and wonder. We learn to be genuinely present, reframing our neuroses and putting deep-seated struggles into perspective. For many, this marks the first experience of a healthy self-connection—opening up to our depths, confidently releasing past pain, and moving forward with hope.
